Today the junior class had an important outside activity. This year the students choose between two topics. They had to make a choice between art and history. Both subjects have their own activities planned, and this past Tuesday the junior class went to an activity of the subject they chose. The students that chose art went to an art museum, while the history class went to the National History Academy. The reason the National History Academy was chosen was because the junior students were studying the topic of World War 1, while the students were there they had to do research about a certain topic concerning World War 1.

But not all of it was researching, Diego Moscoso gave the junior class a very entertaining talk about aviation and how it developed after the conclusion of World War 1. This talk made the students have a clearer vision about the effects it had in our own country, Ecuador. The talk Diego gave was informative and interesting to the junior class. He made this plain topic into a fun one, his classmates were eager to learn more about aviation during World War 1.

Diego nicely gave juniors a tour of the National History Academy. Here the students could see the colonial house and its changes. One thing that surprised them was the portraits of the presidents of the academy. Another thing that surprised the rising seniors was the huge library the National History Academy had, here students observed remains of text and old computers that were in spotless conditions. After the tour the students were ready to locate the information needed to complete the topics they had been assigned. After finishing their research the three groups headed to lunch, but before going the National Academy gave them a box of books as a donation to their school, Colegio Britanico Internacional. Both the school and the students were touched by the National Academy’s generosity.

During lunch the junior students interacted with each other, sharing news about their experiences they had had during their visit. After lunch they headed back to their school. The fieldtrip lasted from 10 am to 3 pm.

It was a day full of learning and fun.
